The most frequent reasons why the name search for the deceased does not yield results and what to do to request the service in these circumstances

  1. The data concerning the cemetery in question have not been digitised. In this case, please enter the name of the deceased to submit the order, and add the cemetery from the drop-down menu that opens below the text ‘Couldn't find the right person?’. After selecting the cemetery, click ‘Choose’. Then select the services. If possible, please describe the path from the cemetery gate to the grave in the comments field below the service description. If necessary, we will contact you to locate the grave.
  2. The cemetery is not on our service list. The list of the cemeteries we serve may be found here. If a cemetery is not on the list, please send a query to info@kalmula.ee and, if possible, we will try to find a solution.
  3. The name entered was misspelled. Always check the spelling of the name. If the query still does not yield results, check whether the spelling used in the Cemetery database might be different by querying the name of another person buried on the same plot. If you get results this way, click the text ‘On the same plot’. Our experience with different spelling in the database includes e.g. ‘Aleftina’ instead of ‘Alevtina’, ‘Johan’ instead of ‘Juhan’. Sometimes the person has been registered in the database under a different surname. If you discover missing or imprecise data, contact the administrator of the cemetery. You can order services from us also if you locate the correct plot but not the specific name. You can just link the order to a different name on the same plot. Use the comments field when requesting and selecting the service to indicate the correct person.
  4. In cemeteries with digitised maps, the query sometimes fails because the plot is located in an uncharted section. E.g. in Halliste Cemetery, there are sectors where plots have no registered coordinates. If the plot has no registered coordinates, the name does not show up through our search.
  5. In the case of some cemeteries, the Cemetery database that we use to provide our services includes the name of the deceased but not the coordinates of the plot. This may concern very recent or, vice versa, very ancient burials. If the Cemetery database does not provide digital coordinates and only includes a description (sector X, plot no X), the name query will not fetch results. In this case, search for another deceased buried on the same plot. Sometimes the data of another person are correct and you can check the data concerning your initial search by clicking ‘On the same plot’. If this does not yield results, you can request a service by entering the name (you will see: ‘Couldn't find the right person?’) and then selecting the cemetery from the drop-down list below. Once you have done this, you can select the services and enter instructions for finding the grave as free text in the comments field. It suffices to describe near-by objects (e.g. gate, well etc.) and give an approximate distance from them.
